Meaning of Home

The Meaning of Home Everyone knows the word ‘home’, but what does it mean? Its proper definition is: the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household. This may be its definition but that’s not what I think of when I hear the word home. When I hear ‘home’, I think of my happy place, where I feel comfortable. Somewhere I like spending time. It just so happens that my home is my house. I love spending quality time with my family, where nobody judges each other. I am very lucky to be able to express my feelings without feeling judged or different and I acknowledge that. I am very grateful. When I have a bad day at school, all I want is to be home, feeling cozy in my pajamas, chilling on the couch, drinking a nice cup of hot chocolate while watching one of my favourite comedies, ‘Dumb and Dumber’ for example, starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, to forget all about my horrendous day. Those are my thoughts of what ‘home’ means. At the same time, I know that everybody has their own perspective on its meaning. In conclusion, I believe everybody deserves to have their own little happy place, whether it is in a corner of a library, on a basketball court or even next to a tree in the park, as long as they feel comfortable and happy.
