Home = Family

I remember when I was about three years old, after a long car ride when we pulled into the driveway, everyone in the car would sing out at the same time, “Home”! It brings me joy to think about it. It makes me think about how thankful I am for my home, and how I’m so lucky to have a warm house, warm bed, and warm food. It makes me feel like I’m the luckiest kid in the whole world. Do you know why? It’s because home means family and it doesn’t matter who your family is, whether you have a sister or a brother, or maybe even a pet, they can all be family. Whether you live in an apartment or a mansion. Whether your house is big or small. It will always be a home with family. Your home should be a safe space filled with friends and family. Have you ever felt homesick? I have. I feel homesick when I have to go to camp, but it’s weird when I go to my grandma’s house for the night, I’m perfectly fine. Maybe homesick really just means family sick. That just goes to show, home really = family.
