What is a Home?

What Is A Home? What is a home you ask? Well a home can be anything, it just depends on who you ask. To me a home is a place where you can be comforted in the worst of times or a place that is safe and welcoming. It is also a place where you see your family and laugh and play games. But of course not everyone might think that right away. Some people might have not yet discovered what a home is to them. Which is why I asked my whole family what home means to them. My Mom: “A home is a place where you feel safe and where there is love and you can be who you are.” My Dad: “A home is where my family loves each other and cares for each other.” (My sister): “A home is where there is safety and a place that is peaceful and fun to play in.” (My other sister): “A home is a very nice and safe place. It is also very cozy.” As you can see, all the perspectives were different and unique just like a home. But a home isn’t just everything above, it is also a shelter with a roof and walls. A place to sleep and eat. A place to live. But sadly not everyone has a place to live. Did you know that according to CBC News, 200 000 Canadians lose their homes every year? Most of these people also suffer from depression and have mental health issues. They also usually become drug addicts. This is terrible and we need to stop it. I live in Windsor, Ontario and there are 201 homeless people every night. We need to fix this, and we need to fix it now. Now do you know what home means to you?
