The Bed
The Bed
By Veer Brar
Home is not a place with four walls. It is not a place with fancy glass or 10-foot ceilings. It's not a 60-inch TV in the man cave. Home is a place where I can feel safe. Where I can be me. Home is about special memories. It is about a bed that's older than me. A bed that was in the house where me and my sister were brought home as babies. It is about my new dog Bindi hiding under the couch. The couch that is in the man cave that I relax on to watch NFL Sunday Night Football.
When I was one, my mom and dad started building a new house. My mom was on the job site everyday. She wanted it to be perfect. She chose everything! Our house is beautiful but it isn’t all the fancy things she put in it that make it a home. It is the joy my family brought with them when we moved. We brought the bed. It is mine. It’s stuff like that, that makes a house a home.
