What Home Means To Me
Home is a place to stay safe
Safe as in a fence so you cannot get out.
A door so no one can get in.
You can see through a window, but a ball cannot get inside and hit you.
A home can be all types of cozy.
Cozy as in fun cozy.
It is cozy as I’m happy here.
It is cozy as I’m comfortable.
Memories.
Memories when I fall off my chair.
When I laugh too hard.
When I’m doing homework.
When I play with my siblings or pets or toys.
When my friends come over.
When I watch a movie with my family.
When I'm celebrating my birthday.
When I crashed my face into the cake.
Keep those memories there special and all in your home.
The structure
There is a roof over your head, so no rain gets in.
Walls so no one can get in and to put something against it.
Floor so you are not stepping on to dirt and mud.
Stairs so there is another floor to put things in, so it is not crowded.
At the dinner table.
I am waiting at the dinner table as my mom brings the best smelling food.
When I am eating and sharing my day this is how it goes.
When I laugh at the funny news.
When I get sad with sad news.
And the talk about what brings your family together is the thing we are thankful for.
A home is not just a home, it is where you live and enjoy yourself with love and care. A home is where you live and spend time. Going to bed, making mistakes, and forgive and a home is what you make if it’s a box it your box.
