A New Home
I jumped out of the car, and ran to the house.
It was small, but big enough for three. I ran into the hallway, passed the living room.
Into the kitchen but I was not done.
I ran up the stairs, to see the bedrooms and then stopped.
I listened, hoping to hear something. All I heard was silence.
There was no cat screeching, no playful laughter of fun, no family talking and joking around.
And that’s when I realised.
There was nothing there because it was a house, not a home.
I realized that there was no heart in this house so I was determined to make one.
After a while, I got a cat, some friends and family.
We joked around and had fun laughing and playing.
And then one night, I looked up at the stars and listened.
That night instead of silence I heard laughter joy and fun.
That was my goal, so I could go to sleep at last.
And I drifted off into a pleasant sleep.
