Home
Home to me is a place that is more than a roof over my head. It is a place I can call my own that I share with my family. I feel safe when I am at home, and I can be heard and express my feelings. My home gives me the space needed to grow up safely. It is more than a shelter because home is where the heart is. I do not think a home has to be large or fancy, it just has to be safe, warm, and inclusive. I think that every person should have this no matter where you live or grow up. It does not matter what you look like or who your parents are. We all need a safe comfortable place to live and be ourselves.
The problem is that not all of us have a home. That is what I want to fix, but I cannot do it alone. That is what this contest is trying to help with. There are many problems in my community that make it very difficult to survive without a home, violence, no food, no water, cold, hot, and so many more. That is the reason that having a home is important to me.
I know it will be a hard task but I believe if we work together it can be accomplished. I think that programs like Habitat for Humanity are a good start. We need to better educate everybody so that everyone has a chance to get a good job and be able to afford a home. We need to also better educate people on the dangers of drug and alcohol addiction. I think if we all can work together this is achievable.
