What Home Means to me!

Like the saying “home is where your heart is”, I believe this to be very true. My home is not big. My home is not fancy. My home is not always neat and tidy, but these things do not make my home special. If my home was too big I think it would feel cold. If my home was fancy I think I would be uncomfortable in it. If my home was too neat and tidy I think I would be afraid to touch anything. You see, it is not what a house looks like on the outside that makes it a home. A house is just a house with walls, floors and a ceiling. A house is just a house until someone makes it their home. My house is filled with art work, but probably not the kind you are thinking of. The walls have pictures of my family and friends all over them. Each picture is a moment locked in time that reminds me of how lucky I am to have people who love me. They also remind me of all the places and all the fun things I have gotten to experience. My home is a place at the end of a long day where I get to be with my family and truly be myself. I am allowed to express my own feelings freely and without judgment. If I have had a bad day, I find cuddling with my dogs in front of our fireplace, while watching a movie with my family, is the perfect fix. My home may be simple but love grows best in homes just like mine. At the end of the day, my home is anywhere my heart is and not about the walls that we live within.
