power of poem
It's competition day and beautiful May you practice all year round,
I hope my routine won't fall to the ground.
Makeup applied and hair so tight, that smell of hairspray gives my heart a little fright.
Two ambitious girls working together.
Warm up is starting why do I not feel better?
Two minutes I am told
Two minutes to perform.
You have got this Emma, show them you’re in form.
Coach shouts five minutes,
My heart starts to jump
Beads of sweat appear, my partner gives me a fist bump.
Two minutes to perform
Two minutes
Two minutes
Demons appear
Why do I fear?
Our names are called we both exhale loudly,
On to the floor, fake smiles on our face
We have got this now,
Just keep up with the pace.
Two minutes to perform
Two minutes
Two minutes
The faded shouts of the crowd
Your coach cheering loud
My heart is on fire
My partner throws me higher.
I land on my feet I open my eyes.
My smile tells it all we deserve a prize
Walking off the mat it is hard to hide the emotion
My heart is still pounding
It is like a drank a crazy potion
Hugs all around big smiles and well done.
My coach is so ecstatic
My heart is a little erratic
Now the wait for results
This part is hard to take
Counting of scores can make your heartbreak.
Number one on the podium on top of the world
Wearing that gold medal
How could life get any better!
Two minutes I performed
Two minutes
Two minutes.
To the sport, I love so dear,
Here to an even better year.
