Houses and Homes

A house is four walls from the very start A home is a feeling you carry in your heart A house stands firm, not budging from its place A home can be anywhere, even with a friendly face A house is magnificent, it stands tall with pride A home is something words can’t truly describe A house is a shelter, it protects you from the storm A home lifts you up when you’re feeling forlorn A house can be furnished with paintings or with tile A home can look like anything, it’s very versatile A house keeps safe water, food, and supplies A home stores cherished memories of all the lows and highs A house can keep you warm when the frigid snow falls A home gives you a hug when cruelty calls A house can be unlocked when you turn a key A home is already open, it allows you to be free A house needs to be right when it’s first designed A home is forgiving when mistakes it can find In conclusion, I believe that everyone should own Not only a house, but also a home Be kind today, share a conversation or grin Give someone a wave, invite them to come in If we all lend a hand, like writing this poem Then I hope that one day, all will have a home
