Home Is What You Make It

Home is not just a dot on a map. No, home is SO much more than that. Here's an expression of what home means to me, And what I think is the key, In having a home you trust and treasure, A home you'll always love forever. It's really not just where you live, It's the people you share your cherished home with. So as you can see, What home means to me, Is love. Swirling, whirling, all around. A house is not a home unless love can be found. One or many. Many or one. Quite a few? Well, it's up to you. Sometimes you choose home, other times it chooses you. Because home is what you make it. And simply, you can't fake it. Home is not 'one-size-fits-all' It's a melodic beat, a familiar call. Home is a safe place where you weather a storm. A sigh of relief when you're feeling forlorn. A safe little haven, in the desert or sea, Home is where you can be free! At least, that's what home means to me. I've had quite a few homes, 11 years into life. Australia and Canada, -Both are so nice!- And as I have travelled, I have realised that, Inside my heart new homes start to sprout, And what I say next is without a doubt. Home is pure. Home is true. Home is custom-made for you. Built from bricks of love so sweet, Made up of people that you meet. But most of all my family. Always there. Always kind. Family is the glue that binds, The truth, the love and all the rest, Into a home where you can rest. So there you have it, My meaning of home. Family, love, and what makes it your own.
