My Half Birthday Surprise
My birthday is always what I look forward to every year, but my half birthday party in July 2020 was very special.
I was at my meemaw's house to celebrate my half birthday. I was so excited when my mom said that we were going to open presents. They gave me a Barbie cake. It was colourful and the chocolate inside was so yummy. I remember feeling so happy that I could cry! But then my mom brought out 4 more presents. She surprised me with a big-sister shirt and baby books. I was only five, but I could read, "Big Sister", and it changed my whole life. I was going to have a little sister.
For the next five and a half months, I called my mom asking if the baby had come yet, and she kept on saying no. On January 22, 2021 (my birthday), my mom gave my Meemaw a call saying that she would be able to come home for my birthday. I was so excited to meet my new sister, Olive. At night time, I went to my house and saw my baby sister. She was so tiny. She was sleeping when I first met her, so I held her hand and sang her a lullaby. My grandparents were crying and it was time to put olive in her crib. I asked my mom where my birthday presents were and she said "Oh, my! I almost forgot!" She didn't have time to buy me presents so she made Dan go to the gift shop at the hospital and get me a few things! It was the best birthday ever.
Today, Olive is 5, very annoying, but I still love her.
