My Definition of Home
You call a home a home because it’s more than a house. Houses are built as living spaces. They are made by construction workers. A house has 4 walls, a roof and a couple doors. For me, home is so much more. At some points in my life, I wondered where my home really was. Was it my house, where I lived? Where I ate dinner with my family every night? Where we watched movies until the sun went down? Was it Karate, where I trained twice a week to be stronger? Perhaps it was school, where I learned new subjects everyday and made friends that don’t last forever. Well, now I know. Home is every small place I feel safe. Where I know I'm protected. From my entire school, to that one spot in my home where I feel calm and relaxed. Home is wherever my family is. My home can be my house, karate, or school! Meaning my family can be more than who I am related to. They can be the people I meet along the way, who make me feel loved and important.
