What Home Means to Me

When I think of the word “home,” it reminds me of spending time with my family and all the great moments we have together. My family, including my older brother, my mom, and my dad, often sit together and play Super Mario. My mom is not very good at it, so my brother and I usually have to carry her. But that’s what makes it fun. We laugh a lot when she does silly things, and we love helping her. Another thing that makes my home great is that I have freedom to make choices. For example, I can decide if I want to play basketball or play video games. I like having choices because it makes me feel comfortable and happy at home. Some things I like to do at home are play video games, hug my mom (and my dad too, even though he gets home at 5:30), and just relax. Sometimes I sit on the couch eating Cheese-Its or Doritos, which makes home feel cozy and easygoing. My home is also the most protective place for my family, and it’s where I have lived most of my life. It’s the funnest place for me because it’s the only time I can really play on my laptop. I also have really nice parents. I don’t like being told what to do in a mean tone because I get emotional, but my parents understand me, and that makes home feel safe. Another big reason I love my home is music. This might sound a little weird, but I have perfect pitch, which means I can tell what a musical note is just by hearing it. At home I can use my instruments and practice whenever I want, which makes me really happy. Overall, whenever someone says the word “home,” these are the things I think about.
