Home Poem
What does home mean to me?
I used to think it is where I sleep and eat
Now I know it is not where I sleep and eat
It is where I feel loved, cared for and safe
I am so lucky to have two homes
Not only do I have a home here in Toronto
I also have one in India
Where I was born
It is very hard to change where you live
It feels very sad to leave
A home you have lived in for so many years
Why do you have to change where you live?
The nice neighbourhood, all my friends
I also consider them a part of what home means
It is just so fun with them
So familiar with them
If it is this hard to leave
I can’t even imagine what it would be like to not have it
What would it be like to not have a home
I ask myself this every day
Home is also my family
My mom, dad, and my brother
We always entertain each other
We keep each other happy
No matter what happens
How many times I move where I live
Home will always mean the same thing to me
My family
I am very grateful for my family
Not only do they take care of me
They take me to all my classes
Even though it is not easy for them
I think Habitat for Humanity is a great organization
They are doing a great thing
Helping people who don’t have a home is a very nice thing to do
Thank you Habitat for Humanity
