What Home Means to Me

Home means a lot to me; I feel happy and safe in my home. Not just because it's where I live or because it has all of my stuff in it. It’s home because of my family. My house isn't fully finished being decorated but since I've moved it has not felt more like home in forever. My old house never felt like home because my family wasn't all together. It was hard because there was a lot of traveling; now that I'm here it doesn't fully feel like home, but it’s getting there slowly but surely. It’s sad because two of my family members are in another country and they both left yesterday. It was really hard for me to process this. I had this empty hole in my heart all over again. Just because you don’t see me crying or taking it out on other people doesn't mean that I don't care about them; it just means I don't feel the need to be like other people and show emotion. Everyday I get back from school there is a quiet in the air, but it seems to be that I just don't know where it's coming from. Then I realized it was coming from me. I was so focused on not showing emotion I wound up being sad and not having many friends because I was distant. After this happened I wanted to cherish my family, my friends, and last but especially not least my home.
