What Home Means to Me
To me, home is a place where I can gather with family and friends. I am fortunate that my family has enough money to have a home, to be warm in winter and cool in summer. Although I occasionally want to get away from my home and visit family, I still enjoy the comfort of being at my home, getting cosy on the couch, and reading a book. Some people are not fortunate enough to buy a home, and that is why I’m writing this essay. I want to raise money for those less fortunate than me. Sometimes when my family goes out for a shopping trip in downtown Saint John (that’s where I live!) I see homeless people asking for money, and I always feel so sad about their situation! Sometimes it wasn’t even their decision to do something that made them homeless! That’s why I’ve decided to start writing this essay. I want to raise money for the homeless and less fortunate. And this competition is the perfect starting point for me! I don’t necessarily want the grand prize or even the runner-up prize. I just sincerely want to raise a few dollars for my local Habitat For Humanity. I heard from my teacher that every entry still donates $10 to my local store, so at least I can do a little part in a HUGE problem.
