What Home Means to Me

Hello, my name is Laila. I am not sure what home means to you, but to me it means so much more than just a place. For me, home can be anywhere in the world as long as it feels special, I'm saying that because me, my mom and sister travel all around the world. I have traveled to a lot of places (like a LOT of places). I have also lived in quite a few places like Germany, Canada and Mexico. I love going on adventures, it makes me feel like I can do anything and it makes me feel so free. I find when I have my favorite book or stuffy, I can make any place or country feel like home. When I come home after school and I climb my favorite cherry tree in Germany I feel like I'm at home. Also, when I do art (painting, drawing, DIY) I feel like I am at home and I feel safe and warm. Sometimes I feel like it's hard to express things and I feel like art really helps me with that. Every time I have a home cooked meal, I feel close to the people I love even if they are miles away, I feel like that a lot because of my family in Germany. Something I do to make me feel like I’m at home is bake with my sister or do art with her. I also love to read with my mom or cook with her. It's so much fun. I also think home is the people you are surrounded by. I love being with my family and my friends. They're so loving, kind, and supportive. I think that is the actual meaning of home, being with people who love and support you, and I really hope every person has that. I believe it’s not how big your home is, it’s how special it makes you feel. Your home should tell the story of who you are. Every day after school, dancing or hanging out with my friends, I feel so grateful to be able to come back to a place I can call HOME.
