What Home Means to Me
For me home means family, sharing memories, having some of the best moments of your life, and so much more. Throughout my life I have learned to understand that there are some people who do not have homes, and I find that very sad to understand that people do not have homes. Most of my life when I drive through places like Saint John, Halifax, Fredericton, I see so many homeless people on the streets or on the sidewalk with a sign that says something like, ”Food please anything will help,” or “Have anything to spare?” About five years ago my family went through a really hard time in our house. My dad had gotten very sick and it was a very hard time that my family was going through. After a little while he had surgery to repair a disk in his neck. It was a very scary time of my life. A few weeks later his legs stopped working. At this time I had started to believe that our home was being broken by things that were breaking our family apart mentally. Now here we are about five or six years later; my dad still cannot walk but he is getting better and getting more feeling in his legs and is getting stronger with his leg movement. After this scary time I realized something: home is not about where you are or what you sleep in; it's about more than that. It’s about family and who you're with. So I guess the big question is what home means to me. To me, home is where your family is and who you are with.
