What is Home?

My home fills me with happiness, joy love, hope and family. In Canada, home means the people I'm with; my mom, dad and my cat Sugar. In the evenings my dad cooks splendidly tasting meals. My cat comes to me meowing or purring. When the meal is done we sit down together at the table. Occasionally my dad and mom talk about work, but when it is a sunny day, my dad talks about the time when he was smaller. He always starts, "To ti bolo tak." In Slovakia, home is an enclosed hug, parts of which are history, family and places. A hug of love. Slovakia is my home when I can truly be myself. Home is not necessarily a place. It can be a person, place or thing. It is wherever you feel safe and welcome. When my parents are mad, I go up to my room and write, write and write. I let me story swipe me away. Home is a feeling nobody can change, and Habitat for Humanity can support that.
