What Does Home Mean to Me?
Home is my soft, safe, cozy bed,
my pillow holding my sleepy head,
like how my family lifts me when I'm low.
My bed glowing gently in the quiet night,
waiting for me to rest,
to drift into sleep.
The blanket wraps around me tight,
like a hug that stays until it's bright.
Mom turns off the light;
darkness settles in.
In a soft voice, she whispers,
“Goodnight.”
I gaze at the bright, silver moon,
reflecting on the happy and sad
from my day.
But none of the bad
can reach me here,
in my loving home.
While I feel safe in my home,
I know not everyone has a bright door
to come back to,
filled with care and safety.
I wish everyone could have
a safe and loving home like mine.
I close my eyes slowly,
wrapped in warmth and love.
This is home —
where love, care, safety, and laughter live.
This is what home means to me.
Thank you, Habitat for Humanity,
for helping homes bloom with safety and love.
