Home

Home To me, home is a special place to rest, work, and feel a sense of belonging. Home is a lot different from a house. A house is just a shelter, to rest, to protect. But a home is somewhere special, a place to comfort you, a place you can feel safe and full of belonging. Home is warm, comfortable, and full of love. It is a place where you could express yourself freely. Home is where you can enjoy your life. It’s very important because it can make you feel protected, supported, beloved. Home is hot chocolate with marshmallows, it’s posters on the wall, home’s the quiet chatting of my parents, and the sweet scent of milk chocolate. At first, I didn’t understand the difference between a house and a home. Until, I moved from China to Canada. I crossed 16 time zones to step into a new house. That time, it was only a house, a regular one, and it didn’t feel like home. But then I began filling the space with familiar things to me. From posters to fridge magnets, from plushies to Legos. And then, it started to feel comfortable and cozy and finally, it felt like home.
