The Meaning of Home

I feel like everyone deserves a home but not everyone can afford them so Canada needs to build 3.5 million homes by 2030. Some people say they can change the world with their money, but then most of the time make it even worse. So let's go find out what home means to you and me! I have moved homes once but it was hard, because we could not find a house that was right. Our old home was a small condo home in Toronto, we moved because it was too small. My bedroom was only about 3-4 metres wide and long, we had crazy paint that was random colours. It was also hard because we were high up and my parents are scared of heights. I am very glad we moved from that tiny place or I would not be here writing! When I hear the word “home” the first thing that comes to my mind is safe, comfortable, sheltered, and warm. People that have homes should be thankful because they are very lucky to have a home, money and a place to sleep and eat. When you hear the word “home” what does it mean to you? Now, eighty four percent of people in Canada say that buying a house now feels like a luxury. Eighty two percent of Canadians are worried the lack of affordable housing is contributing to shrinking the middle class too. In addition seventy four percent of respondents agree that communities are being fractured by a lack of appropriate housing for low and middle income. Home is a wonderful place to be, but sometimes it's hard to find one. That is why we all need to participate in Habitat for Humanity to donate money so other families can get a house to be safe in. Remember a house is just a building, home is the best place to be.
