Feeling of Home

Home. The place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household. That’s how the Oxford dictionary defines it, but I don’t think home is necessarily where you live. Mine is, but I don’t think everyone’s has to be. I don’t even think home is a specific place or building. I think it’s a feeling, a spirit, or a state of mind and wherever we feel it, is the place we call home. At home I feel comfortable, loved, and free. It’s a place where I can escape from the outside world, and be myself. I don't have to worry about what to say or wear or do. I can sing as loud as I want or wear bright mismatched clothes. Because, at home I am loved for who I am, and don’t pretend to be someone else. It’s a place where I know I belong, where I am surrounded by people who love and support me. It’s where I always want to be, and never want to leave. Home is where I always feel safe and invincible. As long as I’m home nothing can hurt me, physically and mentally. Home feels like a big hug, wrapped tightly around my body only letting go when I open the door, to brave the outside world.
