What Is Home?

What is home? Is it the building I live in? Is it the house that has all of my furniture? Is it the house where I eat and sleep? No, it’s much more. Let’s take a tour through mine! When I enter my home, my family greets me, I hug and kiss them and set my things down. I cozy up on my couch, and I see my sister and dad working, and my mom cooking food. The sizzling of the frying pan and the clacking of keyboards rush to my ears, but of course, it’s not all that I experience. In the living room, I play games and watch movies with my family. I cozy up during winter, and get sweaty during the summer. I chase my older sister around upstairs and giggle until my dad tells us to stop. “Time for dinner!” my mom says. I go downstairs and meet my family at the dining table, my sister, my mom, and my dad. Fresh stir-fry noodles meet my eyes, and my stomach audibly grumbles. We pray, say thanks, guzzle down the food, and tell stories from when we were outside. My sister and I have chocolate milk, and our parents drink coffee. A BEEP from the oven signals that the cinnamon rolls I baked are ready, just in time for us to eat along with the drinks. We kiss and say good night, and I smile as I look back at my day and await the next. Home is the place where my family is. Home is my refuge when I feel troubled. Home is my happiness, and home can be my sadness. My home changes yet stays the same every second, growing up with me as I progress through life.
