The Meaning of Home
Do you have a place that feels safe as if there are a hundred walls keeping it up? It could be full, it could be empty. Or it can be packed with caramel cakes dripping with icing, so yummy and delicious, being the only support holding up your walls. That is your home! Homes are all different from each other. Maybe your home is the park by your house. It doesn’t matter if you have a house and you don’t like it, home is a place where you feel like you belong. The meaning of home to me is a positive space, a place that is unique, and a space where people are there for me.
To start off, if I want to call a place home, it needs to be a positive space. It should be full of good energy and influences. Whenever I walk into a messy room I automatically feel sad. On the other hand, when I walk into a bright, clean, fresh, absolutely my dream room, the feeling of joy takes over me. This is because having a tidy room makes me feel good about myself because I was able to keep it clean. For example, I think of it as a restaurant. Let’s say you really wanted to go out to dine, because you were having cravings for a certain type of food. So you go to a restaurant and your waiter sits you down at a clean, spacey table. At that moment, you will probably feel safe and comfortable in that restaurant. That is probably because you can touch everything because it is clean. Now, imagine your friend went to dine out too. The restaurant they went to was extremely dirty. There were bits of rotten food all over the seats and brown, dirty, nasty spiders hanging from the ceiling. When your friend went to sit down they probably were probably feeling cramped as if there were a hundred slimy hands trying to grab them. This will put them in a bad mood because the place they were sitting in was full of bad energy. Similarly, the same thing happens to me. The design of the room changes my mood. The brighter the room is, the more happy I feel. All in all, this is why my home is a positive space.
Moving on, my home is a very unique and special place. It has different things. For example, a room filled with stuffed animals with big, brown, bright eyeballs. Or maybe a chair that has so many different colours as if a gazillion paintballs were thrown on it. My home is kind of like an art gallery that you walk through. Everything is different and interesting. I need my home to be unique, so I can get inspired by it everyday. I’ll never get bored of it. For instance, maybe I wanted to paint a picture. Then I look out of the window and - TA-DA!!!! There it is! A tree leaning against a greasy gray pole. Then, I’ll automatically get inspired by the leaning of the tree and paint a slide for my picture. Home shouldn’t be boring, it should be fun. It should be a place you’d want to come to. Without a doubt, my home is a unique, inspirational, unordinary place.
Finally, home has people who are there for me. When I need support, I can always count on the people at home to help me. Suppose I had a really big work project and I needed to travel far away from home to complete it. However, I didn’t have the funding for it. The trip was very important to me and I couldn’t go. The people at home would understand what I was going through because they love me. So, they help me climb up the mountain. They'll fund the trip, so I can complete my project. Then, things will become so much easier for me, that I will be floating like a butterfly. As you can see, this is why I need people from home to be there for me.
So, that was my home! It is a place that is positive, unique, and has people who are there for me. A home that has a positive influence on me is needed because it will make me happy. Also, my home needs to be unique, so I can get inspired by it everyday. Last but not least, people who are there for me at home will help me overcome the most challenging obstacles. My home is like no other home, it’s like a field of flowers all different from each other. Your home is different from other homes too. It is important to have a home that you enjoy and feel safe in. In conclusion, this is what home means to me and how it is different from any other home.
