Home.

“A house is made of bricks and stone. But a home is made of love alone..” What is a home? A home isn’t just a place you sleep in, it’s a place where love and joy grows… When I first moved here, the neighborhood was quiet, no people walking around. I was mad at everything and everyone. I had to leave everything I had built, my school, my friends, my cousins. Now all of them live so far. I can’t walk to their houses anymore, can’t go by my aunt’s house just to eat some snacks. When I moved to this new school, I was far beyond mad. The anger I felt at my dad for making us move here, new faces and everything, couldn’t pass by people in the hallway and say hi or good morning, I didn’t have any friends. The first day I went home and I cried for days, because I was devastated. My house always felt empty. I felt empty. I wanted to go back home, not whatever this was. That was until I started smiling again, finally laughing, eating properly. Happy when my dad made sunny side up eggs on the weekends again, watching movies while fighting over the blanket with my sister, getting mad at my brother when he plays the drums too loud. Genuinely happy again instead of locking myself up in my room. All it takes is a little bit of love. Home isn’t a shelter or a place, it’s whatever, wherever, whoever you want it to be…
