What Home Feels Like

Today is Friday, my teacher asked the whole class about a question. “What does home feel like?” She told us to go home and ask all of our families this question. When I got home, I took off my dirty shoes and gently walked to my mom. She hugged me as I tried to ask my mom, “What does home feel like?” She looked a bit confused but she still said, “ Home means the love from the parents.” she smiled as she talked. Then I walked to the green couch in the living room, “ What does home mean to you?” I ask my dad. “Home means the hot and warm soup that your grandparents make.” my dad said as he switched the news Chanel. Then I wandered through the hallway to get to my sister’s room. As I walked through the long skinny hallway I started seeing all the old family pictures. I saw my great grandma’s and my great grappa’s wedding picture first, then it goes to my grandma’s, then my mom’s, then finally my sister’s. When I see all the pictures, I start wondering about how I will feel when I am their age. Wondering about the smiles on their faces, "Would I also smile that bright when I get older? Would I also have a home like this?” As I wondered, I finally arrived at my sister’s room. I gently knocked on the door, as I walked in her room. “What does Home mean to You?” I asked. “ Home is the culture that the family celebrates through all the bloodlines.” Next Monday I went to school and told the teacher about all the stuff that my family told me. “I really hope everyone has a nice home!”
