What Home Means To Me

My home. The place where I feel calm, safe, and happy. The place where I can see my distant cousins and play with them. At my home, I feel welcomed and loved. My home. The country that I am from and proud to be from. My home. My grandma’s apartment in China, Tian Jin. The smell of Chinese food fills the air as I walk home from getting the packages my mom ordered. My home. An apartment where I can express myself. Below our apartment, there is an orchard with cats. The orchard is filled with apple and plum trees that my grandmother and a few others planted years ago. Next to the orchard is a playground where kids play together. My home brings people together like this. First, a kid joins a bunch of other kids that they do not know. Then, they become friends forever. This is my home. My country. The place where people care about me and I care about them.
