The Meaning of Home

Home is not only a place, it is much more than that. It means people who are safe, happy, and healthy. But some homes don't have these opportunities. I can understand if others do not have the same feeling of home as I do. However, home for me holds feelings. Not any one specific feeling but that of love and warmth as soon as I enter. Everybody greets me, saying, “Welcome back!” or “How was your day?" It brightens my day in every way. It makes me thankful for everything—for my nice, cozy home, a steady house, and a happy family. While still living with someone you know, home will feel like it has the same welcoming feeling—soft and soothing, warm and bright. While feeling is one of your senses (including feeling there are six senses), it feels the soft, soothing love again. Everything feels happier and more exciting than usual. At home I smell the sweet aroma of biscuits baking in the oven. I touch the warm feeling of a comforting hug, and taste your old favorites for the last few times. I hear the laughter of the family playing games. There are sighs, pouty faces, and bright smiles that fill the room with joy. Even if I get in a fight, I just remember the happy memories my house holds. Everything, everyone, and the memories held in my house, is a part of me, building up happiness inside of me, encouraging me to work harder every time. This is what home means to me.
