Home: The Beginning of Your Story
Home is anything that gives you a sense of belonging. Home can be a place where you know you are physically and mentally protected. Feeling safe helps you to freely express yourself with belonging. Homes house you and your memories, secured and stable, the wicked and the reliable ones, each is equally important.
Most people struggle to find or understand what their home is. If you’re one of these people, picture your home without its house. What do you see? Maybe a pet, some family members, friends, a meal, or an action? Now go to your home, close your eyes, and what do you smell? Pine, flowers, chocolate, or a homemade dinner cooking? What you smelled was your home. When you are home, what do you feel? Some might feel openness, delight, belief, gloom, or tired. Every feeling in your home is a good one.
Every story, every home has a beginning, you. A home needs you to start being a home, and you need a home to start a story, your story. Imagine a big, wide tree, a small acorn falls, that acorn is the beginning of a home. The acorn grows and grows, and you grow with it, emotionally and physically. Now imagine a large storm comes to the tree, the wind destroys the leaves, and some branches, the tree is barely stands but only the outside. Under the ground lays the tree’s seed and roots, holding strong to the tree. We are like the tree, we go through hard times and easy ones, but we know our home, the seeds and the roots of the tree, are holding on tight to us, and we’re holding on as well. Next time a storm comes do not worry, for your home is strong, keeping you close.
