Meaning of Home

Home is where I close the door And leave the world behind, It is my safe and quiet space Where my heart feels soft and warm my family stands waiting for me With arms held open wide They seen my tears and heard my dreams And they always stay right by my side While Kiki and Miki fly through the halls Their colorful wings and happy songs Their tiny feet upon my hand Their bright and cute curios eyes Jonny always meows outside my door When he comes into my room I pat him and I hear his purr My cute cat and two parrots Love me so much when we play together Home is laughter in the kitchen Footsteps down the stairs Late night talks, silent hugs That show how much we care In the warmth of every simple thing The laughter and the quiet times That tie us all together Ukraine is my old home which I will never forget Home used to mean Ukraine to me But when I moved to Canada A new world opened wide New streets, new land, new friends Now the distance became a weight I still wear on my mind I am whole in one land but half in the other My life is here but my heart stayed behind With the childhood friends I still see in my mind Home is Where I can truly be myself and With a smile And feel safe And though the years The memories stay forever And never truly die No matter where i am The stories kept inside these walls Will always be my home.
