Home

The difference between a house and a home is that a home is somewhere you come to and feel love and support. A house is a man-made structure, but a home is a natural loving and a supportive structure. My favourite place is my home because it gives me feelings of safety and protects me from the cold and the heat. When I am at a house, I feel like I need to protect myself like I am not already protected and like danger can come at any moment. But at home, I feel safe when I sit with my family and eat my home food from Eritrea and sometimes watch movies with my mom and moments with my family are meaningful. When I come home, I love my home and that is the home that I have been living in for 5 years, so it is very important to me. It is like the fifth family member, so we don’t disrespect it because we love it. My home is something I love, and a house is just like a normal apartment that I don’t know, and my mom told me to once that I should never judge my home because of how small it is or how messy it is. My home feels to me like I should come to it and help it by using it or cleaning it or caring about it, like it did to me for years and there is still a long time to go. When I move to a new home I will miss it in my heart and it will fill my heart with memories. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity. You should feel strong for helping those people that are struggling.
