What does home mean to me?
Home can mean two things to me, the country I was born in and lived in for eight years, and here, Canada. Both of them feel like home to me. Iran because that’s where all my family lives, it’s the first place I called home, where I truly feel like I belong.
The home I live in in Canada is my home too, because it’s where I live now. It feels like home not only because it’s where we live, but to me, also because I’m with the people I Love the most. Home isn’t just a building or a house, home is where you can be yourself, be with the people that love you, and you love the most, eat your favourite meals together with your family.
The country that I’m from is my home too, it feels like home to me. Two years ago, when me and my parents went to Iran for summer break, when we got out of the plane, and got in the car to go to our city, on the way, I felt this feeling I can’t quite explain, but it felt like I’m where I really really belong, and I was really emotional, because the city, the roads, everything, it felt familiar.
In my opinion, what makes home home, isn’t the house itself, it’s the people that you are with that make home feel like home. It’s the memories you make with them in that house that make it feel like home.
