The Love and Warmth of my Home

Home is where I get a soft, cozy, warm hug when I am feeling down. After I come home from school, there are times when I am sometimes sad or angry but the hugs cheer me up. Even if it was just my blanket wrapping around me, I still feel at home. There is nothing better than hugging my parents, they give me advice. Home is where my heart feels warm and welcomed. It can be a really cold day but I still feel warm, that's because of my warm, soft, cozy blanket. It’s the place where I feel welcomed, respected and at home. When I enter my home after school, I smell my moms freshly, deliciously made curries that drag me to the kitchen. I always ask what she made for me this time and every time I do, she says the foods I like. Everyday she makes my favourite meals. The warmth of my moms curries feels magical. The smells that come from my moms curries are not just the smell of something tasty, it is the smell of my culture, my background and my home. Home is where I see and hear warm Tamil music playing on the tv. Home is where I hear the fights of me and my parents arguing who wins in UNO and in board games. It can be serious fights or fun fights, any thing is accepted in our rule of playing games. Honestly, if you ask me, there is nothing such as rules in games, it’s just me, my mom, and my dad having family time. Home is where I hear movies because me and my parents are having a movie night. My home is where I see my sketch book sitting there waiting for me to sketch something new and unique. My sketch book is where I can release my anger and feel relaxed. It's where I can unleash my creativity, talent, happiness and my fantasy. What are the pictures around your house you ask? Well it’s our adventurous moments framed in thick black squares and rectangles. The moments on the walls are not only on the wall, they are also in our hearts. Everyday is a new page in our adventure book. For us, new adventures wait ahead. Thanks to Habitat for humanity, everyone gets a place to sleep, eat and live. Everyone deserves to have a home where they feel welcomed and respected, a place for themselves.
