Meaning of Home

Home is a fireplace; it brings you warmth, joy, and hope, no matter how far you run from it. You're always thinking at least a little about home and the safety and comfort of it. You're connected to your home because it matters to you like family. It matters to you because it's the protector of your things, like a guardian. It protects you and your loved ones, and that's what home means to me. Home, to me, is a safe and cozy place, but there are safe and cozy places that aren’t home—like apartments, hotels, and even school. But home has something special for us. Our home is our habitat, and we take care of it; home is always there long-term. Sometimes we leave our home temporarily for vacations and have temporary homes, like apartments or hotels. But we always come back to our home. Your friends might say, “Can I come to your house?” They don’t call it your home because, to them, your home is just a house or a building. When you move homes, it really hurts and makes you sad, because it feels like you’re an animal being taken from their habitat for a zoo. Home is the safest place you can be.
