What Home is To Me

By Nolan Brannen Burlington ON Home can be many different things but a house and a home are two very different things. The house is the structure and the things that can be replaced like couches, chairs, and other furniture. Home is the things that are special to me like the people who care about me. To me home is wherever I feel safe, happy, loved, and cared about. Home is more than just the roof above me and the walls around me. It is where people love and care about me. It is a place where the value of my opinions are respected and I can voice them. A house is the floors underneath me and the beds I sleep in, but home is a place I feel safe and loved and people around listen to me and care about me. They help you when you need it and provide you with comfort and love. When you are scared they have empathy for you and they will help you get through your fears. Home is where I know I will find comfort and support regardless of the circumstances. Home is where you gather after a long day. It's your family sanctuary and the love in it is strong. Home is where your memories live and new ones are created. In my home there are so many great memories like my brother being born and us growing up together. The structure of our house itself has changed since my mom grew up here, but memories made here continue to grow, and that is what makes my house, my home.
