Home Can Be Many Places
A house is a place where you live, but a home is so much more.
You can make a home in your house, making it have colour and feeling, making you love it. It's where you find comfort and are understood by people.
If you're having trouble moving and doing things independently because you have a disability (which isn't bad), you can always go home and those people will help you see your beauty and see you for who you are.
A home can make you feel like you belong. I'll explain what I think a home is for me and what I think of it as.
I'm Lydia and I have Nemiline Rod Myopathy (sounds like this: Nemalin Rod Miopathy), a muscle disorder. Because of this disability, I need extra help with my care, which is why I have to travel to a special hospital in Ottawa. When I'm there, I stay at a place called Roger Neilson House where children with disabilities are cared for and understood by nurses.
Roger's House is special because the people who work there are really caring, patient, and they take care of the kids in the house. They have a recreational therapist who plans celebrations, crafts, and games that makes the kids feel happy and included. These are feelings they might not have anywhere else but at home.
I see that place as a home since I'm cared for and all the hnurses are silly and I feel like I'm at home. So a home doesn't have to be where you live, but where you feel comfortable.
