My home

What is home? Home isn’t just a building; it can be a place in the world that you like or a thing. It can be everything or everywhere. Today I will tell you what I think about home. I remember a time when I was going on a vacation and a visit to China. When I got there I was very excited, happy, and sad, like a feeling in my heart that I forgot a thing or I missed something. The thing that was in my heart was my lovely home. My parents left me with my grandparents. I was pretty lonely and sad since I couldn't see my parents for a whole school year. After a few days it was September 1st and time to go to school, but I had a problem: I couldn't read Chinese! So this meant that I had a very big workload, but I struggled to concentrate because I was so homesick at first. I missed my home. I remember when I was at home, I would play with my brother, then I would laugh and listen to our story, and every Saturday night I would sit on my couch and watch my favorite movie. But in China it isn’t like that; there is tons of homework, and there is new homework every day, so that means that we have to write all of our homework before the next day, and I found it so hard. I have never felt so lonely. But when it was the end of the year, my parents went back to China to pick me up and at the same time to visit and play. At that time it felt more like home and more positive and easier to do my homework (since I had been there for 1 year and all the teachers said I improved so much over the year). Afterwards we took a flight to go back home, and looking back, it was a fun year in China to discover more culture and language. I will now count my grandparents' home as a home away from home.
