Home

Home is a small word, yet people describe it with millions of definitions. It can be warm, cozy, and safe. My home is like that too, but it's a bit special. My thoughts of home are filled with happy and sad memories. Most homes have loving parents or family members. Most kids wake up to hugs and kisses, and warm waves of delicious food. Then there are kids like me, who are less fortunate. I still wake up to warm embraces, but it’s not from my mom, dad or any other family member. I live with a group of workers who take care of me. Luckily, they treat me like their own. They’re my safe place. I have moved around eight times and lived with many different people. Every time I moved, I cried. It's really hard when you get used to calling a place home, and then you are told you have to move. You feel like you are back to square one, but over the years, I have realized you can make ANYWHERE your HOME. My home is sometimes crazy. My brothers drive me insane, but I realize they will help me practice sticking up for myself. My workers are bossy, but they are preparing me for the future. My dog is my spark of light. He makes me giggle when he eats my crumbs and bonks his little head off my legs. All of these amazing things make my house feel like MY HOME! I have been through a lot, but I have learned one important thing. If I can make a house into my home, anybody can. I want to make a difference in the world. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for helping me start by sharing my story with everyone. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO!
