What home Means to me...

What Home Means to me... Google says home is the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household. To me, home isn’t just a place or a shelter, it is a covering, a shield and an institution that gives physical, emotional and social protection from the harshness, cruelty and vices of the environment and life. It’s where you feel safe, where you can relax and think about life’s choices. It’s where everyone loves you, a place where you feel warmth. Home is where you feel and know your tradition, where your origin begins, where your root takes form. It reminds you of great memories, create new ones and a reputation for generations to come. Thinking about home, it is a place of bloom, a place where corrections are made in love, a haven of budding talents, where your gifts are first identified and given space to explore. It is a place where you have an advantage over sadness, a no- judgement zone. Home is a team of people who work and walk with you, fights for you, cheers you on, lifts you when down or troubled, heals you when sick and takes away shame when necessary. Home isn't just a house, it's an abode that affects us in different ways. Home, a place that helps us in different situations, problems and phases of life, a nest of character and value building, even after leaving the nest, its marks, directs our path and decisions. It doesn't matter if we're rich or not, home should be a place where we all should look forward to, unburden the daily challenges, share the laughter, support one another and love unhindered. My safest haven? Home, sweet home!
