Home is Mine

My home isn't just a house with a table and a sofa. Our couch is more than just a place to sit, it is where we cuddle, laugh, cry, and yell at dumb people in movies with no judgment or anger, just emotion. At dinner, my mom moves swiftly through the kitchen while making my favorite angel hair pasta. The delicious aroma fills my senses as I watch her fill a medium sized bowl to the top with salty, buttery goodness. My bedroom is not just a bed where I sleep, it's where my mom tucks me into bed with an “I love you” and a warm, loving hug as I roll over and turn my alarm clock on and fall asleep. In my home, my brother helps me with homework at our messy kitchen counter as my mom reads her book on the couch, in her favorite polka-dot robe with her feet up on the coffee table and a warm heating pad in her lap. When I wake up early in the morning for my hockey practice or game on the weekend, my mom gives me time to wake up on my tablet while she makes me some breakfast. My home is mine Because my family shaped it to be.
