Coming Home
I used to live in Vernon.
It was a nice little home.
It was in a nice little neighborhood.
With lots of friends.
But then we moved to Coaldale.
Mom said ”We're going to a new home.”
When we got there it did not look like home.
It was a very big neighborhood.
With no friends.
The house was dark and spooky.
There were spider webs in the corners.
You can see all the bricks from the inside.
The house is very empty.
It was very lonely inside.
After 1 year it felt like home.
In the winter my family would sit by the fire pit.
Mom would give us hot chocolate.
Snow would be falling out the window.
In the summer we would go to Vernon.
I looked out my window and I saw my old home.
It did not look like home.
The swing set is gone.
Dad’s tree is still there.
Our old yard is green.
It takes a day to drive home.
When we got home I went to bed and snuggled my teddy.
I really felt at home.
So one day you will have a very cozy and warm home,
with hot chocolate, of course.
