The Deeper Meaning of My Home

To me my home means so much more than just walls, a roof and a door. It feels like a big tight hug. A true home to me is where you can feel safe, not stressed and welcomed. My first steps were in my house, first words, where I can laugh & play and grow and thrive and enjoy the moments I have, you never think too hard about it until it’s gone. As Oliver said “Where we love is home, home that our feet may leave but not our hearts”- Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. The quote that was just read has such a deeper meaning than “just a house.” To me my family made my house a home. My house means that I can cry, jump at every lightning strike, laugh, feel valued, fall asleep and feel calm, take a deep breath, block the outside world out, cuddle up on my couch, learn from my mistakes, be scared from the movie on my tv on a Saturday night, listen to music, have my friends over and so much more. I am so grateful to have an amazing family and that no matter what happens I can always come home and see my pets, my mom, my dad, my brother, tell them about my day so if you were to ask me on a deeper level “what does your home mean to you?” I would say that in every universe I would pick this lifetime, this house, this family and all the memories that I have lived here. - Elliot Paisley
