Home Isn't Just a Building
I can't exactly answer the question ‘ What does home mean to me?’ because home means millions of things. A house can be a dwelling, though it is not a home if you do not feel safe and loved. But most importantly what makes a home a home is that there are the people you love and cherish inside the house, who have to be willing to take care of the home so that they can feel safe. But then again it doesn't matter how much fancy furniture you have or how many floors you may have in your home, you just have to feel safe and loved and have what you need. Like the warm feeling I get while sitting around the fireplace with my family after shovelling the driveway. Or cuddling up on the couch while my dad makes delicious home made pizza and I fight with my sister about which movie to watch. Or arriving at my family cottage and opening the door to the delicious smell coming from the kitchen of my favourite meal of which my grandma is cooking for me. Home reminds me of baking with my parents and playing hide and seek with my sister , and I love when it is a Friday night and I had a good day at gymnastics. When I get home late at night and my mom changes my sheets and that one night when I feel so relaxed and clean, the great feeling that I get when I read until late at night and sleep in during the lazy weekend morning. I wear green shirts and blue sweaters because they remind me of the lake and swimming at my cottage with my family. That is what home means to me.
