Home Means Memories

Home is a place of memories as well as family. Way deep in the floorboards, the tears you cried, slipped down because of your horrific sightings or just terrifying thoughts and sadness, or the joyfulness and happiness of having good news arrive at your doorstep. The faded handprints on your window from drawing on the warm foggy breath, or running up to your window and sitting on the sill waiting for your guests to arrive in your driveway. I can relate, running up to the couch and leaning over to stroke my cat as we waited for our guests by the window. The tree or plant that you planted outside, and watered and talked to when nature was calling your name. The peeled paint on the walls that you picked at waiting by a door. The shouts that you remember as you ran home because you passed a really hard test! Memories are in the pencil on the wall that you scribbled at a younger age. One of my memories is in the doorway to my moms office, we have my sister and my heights that we marked over the years. Home is also where you feel safe! Where you go when you're sad. I snuggle up in a blanket when I’m sad. I go into my room and snuggle with my cat when I’m lonely. I eat almonds with my gerbils when I’m hungry. I talk with my mom when I’m bored. I laugh with my dad when I’m mad. I play with my sister when I want to have fun! And home also means family to comfort me. That is home to me!!!
