Home's Essence: A Personal Reflection

Home means to me not just a roof over my head; it means a family and people I care about being together; it can also mean being safe, warm and protected. When I think of being at home, I like to feel loved and supported and enjoy things I love, like toys and games. Having a home also means having nice clothes and shoes to wear. Sometimes, when I think of people who don’t have homes, it makes me feel sad. If I did not have a home I would feel scared and alone and worry about my safety and how I could keep myself warm. I would also begin worrying about how I could make a living and take care of myself. That's how I would feel if I did not have a home. We should take time to stop and think about all the people that don't have homes. Did you know that 150 to 300 thousand people in Canada are homeless? That's a lot of people. There are some ways we can help. We can help by donating food, money, or even clothes. Talking about homelessness and actively raising money can significantly improve the lives of homeless people.
