What Home Means to Me

When I think about home, I think about… A place for me to feel safe. A place where I am sheltered from the raging storms above. A place where I have a roof over my head. And the loving pets that greet me at the door. When I think of home, I think about … The place I share with my sisters. The place I grow up. The place I go when I need comfort and support. The place I go when I need to get something off my chest. That is what I think about when I think of home. Home is the place I watch family movies with my parents and sisters. I smell the hot buttery popcorn. I taste the popcorn that is melting in my mouth. I see the emotional movie I am watching with everyone. And I feel my mom squeeze my hand and I know she is tearing up. When I think of home, I think of… The warm faces I see when I come home from school. All the screaming and laughter when we play Mario Party Super Stars. The comfortable bed and blanket, I get to sleep in at night. When I think about home, I think about… The hot food I have on my table when I come home from school. The smell of the delicious spaghetti my mom and dad spent all day making. The taste of that spaghetti. The feel of my mom and dad hugging me from behind. And I see my family and their smiling faces while eating the delicious food. When I think of home, I think of… Seeing my grandparents planting seeds. Embracing the cool summer air. Feeling the hot sun on my face. And hearing birds chirping.
