What Home Means to Me

Home is a place where my family is my parents, sisters and brothers. Home is a place where I feel comfort and joy. When I’m at home I feel love and accepted. Home is a place where my family and I create memories that will last a lifetime. Being at home makes me feel safe and supported it’s a place where I know I belong. Home is a place where my siblings and I have arguments and may not agree but deep down we know we love each other, and we’ll protect each other till the day we die. Home is a place where I sneak into my sibling’s bedroom and hide under the comfy soft covers when I’m scared. Home is a place where the kitchen is filled with my mom’s enchanted cooking. To me, home tastes like the steamy warm soup my mom makes for me when I feel sick and weak. To me, home looks messy but always feels safe, relaxed and comforting. To me, home will always be the first place I call when I’m struggling and in need of help. To me, home feels positive and accepting. To me, home is where I hear my family and me laughing and enjoying our time together. Even when we’re facing big challenges throughout life, we all know we’ll be here for each other. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for helping people in need of a safe supportable home.
