Home is More Than a Place

Home is a place you belong. Where you can be yourself regardless of who you are. A place you can be safe. Safe from savage winds of mockery and brutal storms of judgment. Safe from all who may wish to harm you. Home is a place to come back to after a day that felt like an eternity through the lenses of your eyes. Home is a place to be as carefree as a blooming flower waving in the breeze on a spring morning. For me, home is warming up by the dancing fire with a steaming hot cup of cocoa after a long morning out playing in the snow. Home is the friendships as strong as the earth that will last forever. A place to let go of your troubles, sending them up, up and away into the vast, sparkling night sky. Home is a place that is always there for you no matter what fate sends you. Your home is the place you dwell in, the place you call your own. Home is a part of you. In my life home is freshly cooked food for Christmas dinner with my family, feeling safe, feeling content, feeling loved. Home is walking into my warm cabin after an exhausting ski day, the candles glowing with warmth and light like the summer sun. A place I can return to after a fantastic mountain adventure. Collapsing into the soft leather of the couch, never feeling more cozy. Home is more than a place, it is an emotion, a feeling that everyone deserves to experience. A whirlwind of, happiness, trust, safety, love and belonging. When you feel down, remember there is always a place for you. That place is at home.
